Great backyard bird watch 2012 PARTICIPATIONS REQUIRED FOR JOURNEYS BADGE
alL JUNIORS AND BRONZE AWARD GIRLS SCOUTS /PARTICIPATION NEEDED FOR jOURNEYS BADGEclick on this link to get a worksheet to use |
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1. Plan to count birds for at least 15 minutes on one or more days of the count. You can count for longer than that if you wish! Count birds in as many places and on as many days as you like—one day, two days, or all four days. Submit a separate checklist for each new day. You can also submit more than one checklist per day if you count in other locations on that day.
2. Count the greatest number of individuals of each species that you see together at any one time. You may find it helpful to print out your regional bird checklist to get an idea of the kinds of birds you're likely to see in your area in February. You could take note of the highest number of each species you see on this checklist.

3. When you're finished, enter your results through our web page. You'll see a button marked "Enter Your Checklists!" on the website home page beginning on the first day of the count. It will remain active until the deadline for data submission. (We'll let you know when that is for 2012.)

First Week of recycling a huge Success

The girls first step was to prepare a speech explaining the project to Mrs. Lieggi and then asking her permission to host the project at school. She said YES! |
The girls then had t make posters to draw attention to our project~ |
They were definitely eye catching and the posters weren't so bad either~ |
Next step .... Collect and count....Week 1= 411 So many that we had to go out and get a 2nd bin. |
Say goodbye....because they are on their way to Riverside Foods to be recycled~ |
Parents need your help. Thinking Day February 23rd

This is a neat event where different girls in our area make displays about different countries in honor of thinking day.
Thinking Day, February 22nd, is the day we celebrate the international sisterhood of Girl Scouting. By being registered members of GSUSA all of us are entitled to wear the World Association Pin. This is the emblem of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
Some country stations might have clothing , others foods, music. It is a very interesting night for the girls and a great way to send some time with other troops.
Girls will receive a passport to mark their way around the countries. Some countries will even be giving out S.W.A. P.S. so bring our hat~
Registration is required for this even and I will need to know how many girls are going & money for those attending in a marked envelope with the permission slip, by February 14th meeting as well as the name of the adult volunteer.
If you can make it this is an event that is not to miss~
Yours in Scouting
