POSTCARD EXCHANGE 2012

Once again we are participating in the Great Postcard exchange with Girl Scouts off all ages all over the world
Last year we did exchanges with over 26 different troops from Australia to some right here in our own hometown Chicago.
This year, we already have several troops committed to the exchange with us.
  1. 1.     Bakersfield Ca U.S.A.
  2. 2.     Chandler, AZ
  3. 3.     Lone Jack, Mo
  4. 4.     Melbourne, Fl
  5. 5.     Portland, ME
  6. 6.     Cypress, Ca.
  7. 7.     Hollywood ,Fl

This is our chance to share with others some of the exciting things we do as well as hear
about the neat things others all over the world do as Girl Scouts.

Also I just got off the phone with a very nice leader in California.  See, your never to old to make new friends......

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

Our first meeting of the Bronze award was a huge success..... 14 girls will be taking on the goal of completing a bronze award project his year.
Girl cut and glues and hooked the Milk jugs together that so many of you donated,
 into a new creation
the Jugelton~ half milk jug half skeleton.

This was our first step in our bronze award by working on our Journeys badge/Bronze award
centering around a recycling theme.

Can you believe how much we have accomplished in October already!

And it is only the beginning of the month~
  • We had our first Field trip with the Webelows and improved our archery skills…
  • We had our 2nd meeting…
  • We learned about typography art and made cool troop number badges for our sashes…
  • We made spooky scary skull shirts for our haunted caravan at the end of the month…

I’d say we are off to an excellent start.

Briyana Modeling our cut out Skull Fashion Shirt for our Haunted Caravan

The rest of the girls got in on the action of mugging it up for the camera

We made these Troop number badges after learning about typography art and how even things that may not be so interesting by themselves can look beautiful when put with other things.  Sometimes all it takes is to take a fresh new look. Fits in with the Reduce Recycle Renew Reuse ideals that we will be talking about all year.
